Riverside Collective Reception
As the featured artist at the Riverside Collective in Saxapahaw for the first quarter of 2026, they welcomed me to their shop last week for a reception, allowing the community to meet the artist and discuss glasswork.
One of the things we discussed was how to show the process of my work to those who came and how they might participate. We decided to show the process of creating a mosaic with small, irregular pieces of transparent glass. I worked on a couple of sea creatures, but in the lower left of the photo, there is the beginnings of a peace sign.
The peace sign was designed to be a community project, with any and everyone who visited encouraged to add as many pieces of mosaic as they wanted. Many people contributed and often would start in a new area of the peace sign, creating the final project shown here. The finished piece will travel back to Saxapahaw this week and hopefully hang in the window of the Riverside Collective.
Please stop by and admire this peace sign and see my items – with a new item added each month - when there is not all the activity of the holidays pulling you in many directions. The shop is located at 1735 Saxapahaw-Bethlehem Church Rd., between the coffee shop and the general store. You will also be able to view and support local artists who work in a variety of materials.
Come. Shop. Look. Buy. Support the arts.
