Outdoor Art
Spring hasn’t quite sprung, but it’s time to start thinking about your outdoor space and gardens. One way to add color and texture – particularly in a shady spot – is use a project that includes glass. This project started with a look at my broken china, like some of this shown here. Do you have any broken glass or china that was meaningful and you can’t bear to part with? This is a great chance to re-introduce it into your life.
I took my slightly broken china and smashed it into small enough pieces to use on a curved surface. Then I added in a lovely light green glass that reminded me of the color of the Caribbean and created artwork for my garden. The china and glass are glued onto a piece of PVC pipe and then grouted. There is a 6” section that is glass free and sunk into the ground.
My art pole supports a bird house - slightly tilted at the moment - but you could put anything on top – a bird bath, a sculpture, your favorite potted flower. And since the top decoration is not permanent, you can change it with the seasons. My art pole has been in my garden for about 5 years and I move it around to different locations with the seasons.
Outdoor art like this can be personal. If you have someone that you want to give a unique item, contact us by emailing here or contact us on Facebook.
