Making Mosaics

One of the joys in working with glass is the variety of options.  I do stained glass, fused glass and mosaics.  But mostly I do what strikes me as fun at the time.

Mosaic

This last week, I was having trouble with my kiln, so I could not fuse.  I returned to non-fused mosaics and here is some of my work.  It is wonderful to see the design come together after snipping hundreds of small pieces of glass.  Usually the pattern is put in place first and then the background pieces are added.  This works well, but with the small tray, there were some very tiny spaced to work with and my tweezers became my best friend.  The small tray and the trivet still need grout, but that is a separate process and will happen when I have several projects to complete at once.

The good news is that by the end of the week, I had a work around for my kiln and am back to fusing; however, a repair is in the short term future.  I am also waiting to hear about participating in a Christmas in July show.  Fingers crossed for both projects!
