Fun Finishes

Many of us have a vague idea of what a stained glass item should look like – beautiful colors of glass, artistically arranged, framed by a silver finish.

Not all finishes for stained glass have to shiny silver.  The traditional finish for stained glass is either using lead came (yep, the work is came), or copper foil that is then covered in solder.  Both of these finishes provide a silver finish as with the pinwheel in the lower right.  The finish should be smooth and even.

If the stained glass is done with copper foil, once the solder is completed, a patina can be added.  An example of this is the Art Deco piece on the left.  Each glass piece is rimmed in black and then the piece is completed with a black chain.

Another choice when the stained glass is done with copper foil, is to apply a textured finish.  This is shown in the close-up of the circle design in the lower picture.  Each of these options offers the chance to make your stained glass piece a unique statement in the style you choose.

We enjoy making items that represent special times or special people.  If you want a special item, contact us by emailing here or contact us on Facebook.
