Flexible Glass?

Several months ago, I posted about some items and products that I had found in my workspace and I was unclear on what to do with them.  I have been working on learning about these new products and new skills needed to use them.

This week I can show you the beginning of my journey exploring Flexi Glass.  This product is like a super glue that captures glass frit and when heat is applied the resulting piece is flexible and can be cut into the desired shape.  That is what the Flexi Glass bottle says, so I tried it, based solely on those instructions, without researching it on the web.

Unclear where this experiment was headed, I tried to create a leaf shape and a flower shape.  I didn’t know how this would turn out, or have any plans for the completed item.  Shown here is my finished leaf, and you can see that the product is indeed flexible as it bends easily between my fingers and the glass particles stay connected. Frankly, I was amazed!

With this success, I decided to try a larger ‘real life’ creation.  The results of part two of this experiment - the starfish shown here that combines frit with solid glass nuggets - will be revealed next week!
