Cardinal Creation . . . Completed

This week, we continue working on the cardinal plant peepers that were begun last week.  All of the glass creation work is completed once the cardinals are fused in the kiln.  When the firing is complete, the cardinals are washed to remove any shelf paper residue and they are ready for the finishing touch.

Shown here are the items needed to finish the cardinals, and indeed, all of the plant peepers.  I purchase stainless steel straws, shown on the left in the photo.  However, the straws are round and the glass needs more surface area for a secure attachment, so the hammer is used to flatten a small portion at one end of the straw, shown on the right side of the hammer.  Once this is done, the tube of heavy duty glue, below the hammer, is used to attach the cardinal to the straw and . . . you have the completed cardinal plant peeper on the right, ready to perch majestically in the plant of your choosing.

If there is a particular item, color or design for an object that springs to mind and you want to know if we can create it, get in touch and we will see what we can do. Contact us by emailing here or contact us on Facebook
