Piece by Piece . . . another piece
This week’s blog is a continuation from last week, when I discussed the beginning of a peace sign done in mosaic glass. As I mentioned, I’ve used some striker glass – glass that is one color when you look at it, but it changes to a completely different color when heat is applied in the kiln.
So, here are the results. The photo on the left is the project as it awaits the kiln and it appears predominantly blue, purple and green. The photo on the right is after the kiln firing and now the peace sign has vibrant yellow, a touch of red and the mix of colors is much more pleasing. Now, the peace sign just needs to have the hanger attached so it can be an ever-changing suncatcher in someone’s home.
This project offered a little of the unknown – how the striker glass would appear AND did I label the glass correctly so the right color would be used! Next week’s project deals again with the unknown as I am trying to reclaim a project that went awry, and I still don’t know if my efforts will work or not.
