‘Old School’ Game Gets Upcycled

Did you play tic-tac-toe as a child?  Or as an adult with grandchildren?  It is a simple game that brings us back to our childhood, when life was simpler.  It is also a game that develops simple game strategies and requires no batteries, so it is ready to go whenever two opponents come together at the table.

DarionGlass has been making tic-tac-toe game boards for several years.  We began making them using wine corks for feet on the board so that it was easier to place the board on a surface and to ensure that it didn’t easily slide around.  Recently we began attaching the game board to small boxes, so that the game pieces could be stored safely inside the box.  These small boxes are generally found at thrift stores and here are a couple of our recent creations.

The box, above in the first photo, is ‘as found’ in the thrift store and is recycled in the second photo with the green tic-tac-toe board attached to the lid.  The recycled box with the blue tic-tac-toe board attached was a little cedar jewelry box whose hinges had been sprung.  Both boxes now have a new life and hopefully will meet up with some young hands to love them once again.

If there is a particular item, color or design for an object that springs to mind for you and you want to know if we can create it, get in touch and we will see what we can do. Contact us by emailing here or contact us on Facebook.
