Holiday Gift Guide - Part Three

Continuing with gift choices, this week we focus on mosaics that bring color and inspiration to any location

DarionGlass has many items that are $20 and under.  Today we focus on our creative sea creature mosaics.  Our photo on the right shows the process for creating a single mosaic, from left to right.  Even before dealing with the pattern, we have to take pieces of glass and snip them into chips to use for the mosaics.  Each color has its own container to facilitate the process.  Then a clear piece of glass, cut to the size of the frame, is placed over the pattern and putting the colored chips into place begins!  The sand dollar shows the completion of the mosaic pattern.  Once the completed mosaic has been fused in the kiln for about 17 hours, it is ready for framing.  The backing board that supports the art is covered with a patterned paper to complement the design and the entire project can then be assembled to create the seahorse on the far right.  A sample of each of these 5" x 7" sea creatures is shown below. All of this and the mosaic is only $20!
