Fun With Fusing

One of the best things about creating fused glass objects is that the time from inspiration to creation can be very short.  Projects that do not include many pieces can be created in various colors and styles to create variety.  Reviewing our supply of spoonrests, I felt that I had sort of fallen into a rut and done what was easy.  So I tried to look at the spoonrest shape as a new pallet and created some new designs and textures staying within the same shape.

I like to work with bright colors and once I picked the background, such as the yellow (this piece is still flat as it has not been slumped into the spoonrest shape yet), I looked around to see what I could do to make it unique and interesting, settling on a variety of asymmetrical stripes.  When I selected the red, I added little millifiori glass pieces that gave it both a burst of flower power and a subtle texture.  As I worked on these pieces I felt infused with creativity and joy again.  I hope you see something that brings you joy, too.
